UPCOMING CLASSES FOR ADULTS AND YOUTH                       

Waxworks: Acting Technique Workshop with Jamie Wax

March 1, 2008; 1 to 5 p.m.

Cost: $50

New Stage Theatre guest artist Jamie Wax (playing Father Flynn in Doubt) will teach an acting workshop on creating memorable characters for stage, film, television and solo performance.  Wax, who began his professional career at 14, with other stage roles including Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar, Brad in The Rocky Horror Show, Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors, and the young Dylan Thomas in A Child’s Christmas in Wales. Additionally, he appeared as Toy in the new play Guns for the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles.

Public Speaking for Business Professionals

Mondays from 6 to 9 p.m. for six (6) weeks March 17 - April 21

Cost: $300

Class will focus on logical and clear organization of the information and improvement of non-verbal communication skills, as well as improving presentation skills, including conquering the ever-present “stage fright.”  Each participant also will receive a 30 minute individual coaching session to focus on specific needs and goals of the individual. Taught by Denise Halbach who has more than18 years experience as a teacher of theatre and public speaking and has coached almost 3,000 people in the art of public speaking in addition to coaching political candidates and newscasters in how to better present themselves to the public.

Children and Youth Classes

*1st-3rd grade—9 a.m.-10:30 a.m.
*4th-6th grade—10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
Saturdays for five (5) Weeks: March 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29
Each Session is $100
Developing Character - students will learn how to use physicality and vocalization to develop a character

*7th-12th grade—5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Mondays for six (6) weeks: March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and April 7
Each Session is $100
Presenting a Play - focuses on the different aspects of play production, culminating in a one-act play
